Tidio alternative for small business websites

Tidio is a customer service platform: live chat, ticketing, several channels, and an AI agent called Lyro that is priced separately. FlatRateChat is only an AI chatbot for your website, priced per month. If what you mainly want is AI answering visitors, this page compares the two using Tidio’s own pricing and help pages, dated and linked. Nothing here judges how well Lyro answers; we have not tested it.

Who each one is built for

Tidio’s pricing page (checked November 4, 2026) says its Starter plan lets you “handle all customer conversations in one tool”. The plans list live chat and ticketing, an email management system, Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp integrations, up to 10 seats on self-serve plans, and desktop and mobile apps. Lyro, the AI agent, and Flows, the proactive automation, are add-ons with their own monthly quotas.

FlatRateChat does one job: it reads the public pages of a website and answers visitor questions from them, linking the page each answer came from. When the answer is not on the site, it says so and shows the owner’s contact details. It can be wrong sometimes, like any AI. There is no inbox, no live human chat and no social channels, and no usage charges on top of the plan price.

How the two pricing models differ in practice

Tidio counts two things separately: “billable conversations”, the ones a person on your team answers, and Lyro conversations, the ones the AI answers. Its pricing FAQ (checked November 4, 2026) says “Responses from Flows and Lyro AI Agent are not counted as ‘agent replies’”, and Lyro can also be bought on its own. The help article (checked November 4, 2026) counts a Lyro conversation the first time Lyro replies in a new thread, says a thread closes after 15 minutes of inactivity, and says nothing is deducted if Lyro hands off to a person straight away. The pricing FAQ describes returning visitors differently, so confirm the rule with Tidio if it affects your budget.

FlatRateChat counts answers. One visitor question is one answer. Paid plans include 1,000 answers a month on Starter and 5,000 on Full; above that the chatbot keeps answering at up to 10 answers an hour, and there is nothing extra to pay. A Tidio conversation can hold several questions, so the two numbers are not the same unit. The Tidio pricing page on this site lists every Lyro tier and works an example in detail.

One example

These are illustrations, not quotes, and not equal products. Assumptions: each visitor asks about two questions, nobody needs a live reply, and Tidio’s Free plan covers the human side; Tidio prices as checked November 4, 2026, billed monthly.

  1. About 100 AI conversations a month: Tidio’s 100-conversation Lyro tier is $75 a month. FlatRateChat: about 200 answers, so Starter at $19.
  2. About 300 AI conversations a month: Tidio’s 300 tier is $210 a month; its calculator shows “Total price $210/mo.” FlatRateChat: about 600 answers, still inside Starter’s 1,000, so $19.

The Tidio figure includes a live chat inbox; FlatRateChat has none.

When Tidio is the better choice

Only Tidio’s own pricing page (checked November 4, 2026) is used for this list, and it is about fit, not quality.

  1. You answer customers yourself. Live chat, ticketing, an email management system, operating hours, automatic chat assignment, macros and desktop and mobile apps are listed. FlatRateChat has no inbox and no live human chat.
  2. You want several channels in one place. Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp and email integrations are listed. FlatRateChat is a bubble on your website only.
  3. You run an online shop. The compare table lists “Native Shopify actions” and Lyro product recommendations with a paid Lyro quota. FlatRateChat has no shop integration.
  4. You want proactive automation. Flows start conversations when a visitor does something, such as a quote request. FlatRateChat only answers questions visitors ask.
  5. You have a team. Up to 10 seats on self-serve plans, user permissions on Growth, and departments on Plus. FlatRateChat is one dashboard for one website.

When FlatRateChat fits

A small business site, a shop, a salon, a restaurant, a contractor, a clinic, that mainly wants visitors’ questions answered from its own pages, without running a chat inbox and without counting AI conversations. The answers come only from the site’s published pages and each one links the page it came from. When the answer is not there, the bot says so and shows your contact details, so the visitor can still reach you. On any website it is Starter at $19 a month or Full at $59 a month. It starts with a 14-day free trial (a card is needed to start it, but nothing is charged until day 15). On Wix there is a Free plan with 50 pages and 100 answers a month, then Starter at $19 a month and Full at $59 a month (yearly $15 / $49). Your content isn’t used to train AI models.

The FlatRateChat bubble answering an opening-hours question with a link to the Hours page, then saying it cannot find an answer and showing the owner’s phone number and email.
Every answer links the page it came from. When the answer is not on the site, the bubble shows the owner’s contact details.

Questions

Is FlatRateChat a replacement for Tidio?

Only for one part of what Tidio does. If you want an AI chatbot that answers website visitors from your own pages at one monthly price, yes. If you want a live chat inbox, ticketing, social channels, shop actions or a team of agents, Tidio lists those features and FlatRateChat does not have them.

How much does Tidio’s AI agent cost?

Tidio’s pricing page, checked November 4, 2026, shows the Lyro AI Agent from $39 a month billed monthly ($32.50 billed annually) for 50 AI conversations. With the calculator set to Monthly, 100 conversations cost $75 a month, 300 cost $210 and 1,000 cost $700. Every account also gets 50 Lyro conversations free, once.

Does Tidio’s free plan include the AI agent?

It includes 50 Lyro conversations one time. Tidio’s help article (checked November 4, 2026) calls this a non-renewable quota: when it is used up, Lyro stops working and the quota does not reset. A monthly Lyro package is needed after that.

Can I try FlatRateChat without removing Tidio?

Yes. The free demo on our home page reads your existing website and shows the answers it would give, with their source links, without installing anything. You can see how it handles your own content before you change your current chat setup.

What does FlatRateChat do when a question is not answered on the site?

It says so and shows the owner’s contact details instead of guessing. Every answer links the page it came from. It can be wrong sometimes, like any AI.
