WordPress plugin
FlatRateChat for WordPress
A small AI chat bubble for your WordPress site. It answers visitors’ questions from your own pages only, links the page each answer came from, and shows your contact details when the answer isn’t on your site. One flat price per month, no credits to buy.

What the plugin does
The plugin is a connector. It adds one settings page (Settings → FlatRateChat) with a Connect button and, once connected, places the FlatRateChat chat bubble on your site’s pages. Everything else, reading your pages, answering visitors, counting answers, plans and billing, happens on flatratechat.com. The plugin itself has no locked features, no trial logic and no counters; it stores a site key, a read-only status token, your site’s host name and the time you connected, and removes all four when you disconnect or delete it.
What a visitor gets: an answer taken from your public pages, with a link to the page it came from. When the answer isn’t on your site, the bot says so and shows your contact details (email, phone or contact page) instead of guessing. Like any AI, it can be wrong sometimes, and the bubble says so under the input. Your content is not used to train AI models.
Plans
- Free: $0. 50 pages read, 100 AI answers a month, no card. When the month’s answers are used up, the bubble stays on your site and shows your contact details until the 1st.
- Starter: $19 a month. 100 pages read, 1,000 AI answers a month. 14-day free trial on a site’s first paid plan, card required.
- Full: $59 a month. 500 pages read, 5,000 AI answers a month. 14-day free trial on a site’s first paid plan, card required.
On a paid plan, above the included answers the bot keeps answering at up to 10 answers an hour until the next monthly cycle. There are no overage charges and no top-ups. Your price stays locked while you stay subscribed. Plans are chosen and billed in your FlatRateChat dashboard (Stripe); nothing is charged through WordPress. The free trial applies once per website: a site that already had one starts paid right away, and the dashboard tells you before you choose. You can switch between Starter and Full at any time and cancel from the billing page; the site then returns to the Free plan at the end of the period. Billing is monthly.
How to set it up
- Install and activate the plugin. In your WordPress dashboard go to Plugins → Add New Plugin, search for “FlatRateChat”, click Install Now, then Activate. Or download it from wordpress.org/plugins/flatratechat. Nothing is sent to FlatRateChat at this point.
- Open Settings → FlatRateChat and click Connect. This opens flatratechat.com with your site address.
- Sign in with your email. We email you a sign-in link; there is no password. After the link, you confirm which site to connect.
- Back in WordPress. Your site is on the Free plan, the bubble is on your pages and the service starts reading your public pages. It can take a few minutes until all of them are read.
- Adjust in the dashboard. Bot name, welcome message, colour, position, contact details for the fallback, conversations and the plan all live at flatratechat.com; the WordPress settings page shows the plan and this month’s usage and links there.
Where to get the plugin: free from the WordPress.org plugin directory at wordpress.org/plugins/flatratechat, or search for “FlatRateChat” under Plugins → Add New Plugin in your WordPress dashboard.
What is sent to FlatRateChat, and when
- Before you click Connect: nothing. The plugin makes no request to our servers on install or activation.
- When you connect: your site address and a one-time connection code. Our service then reads your site’s public pages the way a search engine would (our crawler is described at flatratechat.com/bot).
- While the bubble is on your site: visitors’ questions, the answers, and the browser language, so the bot can answer in the visitor’s language. Conversations are kept for 90 days in your dashboard.
- When you open the settings page: a request for your plan and usage, at most every five minutes, with a token that can only read that information. Disconnecting or deleting the plugin tells the service to stop accepting that token.
Details are in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Deleting your FlatRateChat account and your site’s content on the service is done from the dashboard.
Questions
Does the plugin slow down my site?
It adds one small script tag in the footer, loaded asynchronously from flatratechat.com. Nothing else changes on your pages.
Can the bot answer about things that are not on my website?
No. It only uses what it read from your public pages. When a question is outside that, it says so and shows your contact details.
What happens on the Free plan when the 100 answers are used up?
The bubble stays on your site and shows your contact details until the 1st of the next month. Nothing is charged and nothing changes on your site.
Does it work on WordPress.com?
On WordPress.com plans that allow plugin installation, yes. On plans without plugin support you can paste the one-line widget script from your FlatRateChat dashboard instead, where the site’s custom code allows it.
